The matatu came around a bend and the window was dominated by an 8000 ft vista over the rift valley. The picture centers on Mt. Longonot, a smaller volcano on the valley floor.

Rounding the bend brought into view herds of zebras and more gazelles. Unprotected from any occurances of animal aggression (including lions!) and out of time, it was thought best to return home.

This picture, blurry and taken through the matatu window, does not even closely resemble the sunset exploding over the rift valley as we left.

Eventually the view settled into blue haze, and looking over the valley became strangely similiar the ocean.
